Top Vegas Picks

It really can be overwhelming to go to Las Vegas for the first time (or the second or third times). There’s just so much to do, so much to see –and you shouldn’t feel bad for not knowing where to start.
That’s where The Hotel Guide comes in. Here are our suggestions for the
must-see spots to check out if you’re making a trip to Sin City this spring.

Top Vegas Pools

Rehab at Hard Rock
You know a pool is crazy when it gets its own reality-TV show. This truly is Las Vegas’ ultimate pool party. It’s a nightclub in the middle of the day - with much less clothing. “Total debauchery,” says Mecca Entertainment’s Bill Le. “This is where you’ll find world class DJs, a sexy staff and the sexiest women ever.”Rehab opens for the season on April 19th.

Mandalay Bay Beach
This is the most mind-blowing pool in Las Vegas. Eleven acres, three pools, real sand, waves, a lazy river, an outdoor casino, a restaurant – shall I continue? The Beach has a party vibe, but like a real beach, there is more than enough room for families to feel comfortable, as well.
There’s also a topless pool (Moorea Beach Club) where things can get naughty, if you choose.

Wet Republic at MGM Grand
The new kid on the block is making quite an impression. You’ve probably heard of “ultra lounges” before – but this is the first-ever “ultra pool.”
Wet Republic has established itself as one of the top party spots in Las Vegas, with a different vibe than places like Rehab. “It’s a more intimate party spot,” says Le. “People don’t get as drunk and stupid here.” Wet Republic opens for the season on March 13th.

Top Vegas Nightclubs

Body English at Hard Rock
I don’t know how many times I’ve been to Body English, but each time I’ve left thinking, “Man, that was one of the best nights of my life.” But this club is much more than a cool vibe and long lines at the door. “BodyEnglish has the best staff and the best music,” says Le. The guy to girl ratio is also something to behold. Do whatever you can to get to Body English on a Sunday night. Trust me. Body English is open Wednesday-Sunday.

Tao at Venetian
Tao is all about sensory overload. “Stunning visuals and décor,” says Le.
Where else can you dance and watch a girl take a bath? Or watch a massage in process? One other piece of advice – make sure to check out
the upstairs bathroom. The wall to wall windows frost up when someone goes inside. Yes, this place is so cool that even the bathrooms are must-see.
Tao is open Thursday-Saturday.

Pure at Caesars Palace
This is the ultimate spot to see celebrities and be seen. Pure is huge –40,000 square feet – and has something for everyone, including a great view of the Strip. Pure is also all about service. “This is where VIP means VIP,” says Le. “They really know how to treat the people who are looking for something special.”
Pure is open Friday-Sunday & Tuesday.

Top Vegas Hip Spots

Planet Hollywood
Talk about a dramatic makeover. What used to be a stale and boring hotel (Aladdin) is now one of the most happening spots on the Strip. All it needed was a new owner and some TLC. “Planet Hollywood is a hotel with a split personality,” says Le. “During the day, it’s a good spot to grab food, go shopping and walk around. At night, it turns into a hip new hotel with great restaurants, lounges, bars and clubs.”

Palms
Palms Hotel & Casino burst onto the scene with The Real World – and that run continues today. This place has seen not one, but two reality-TV shows (INKED was filmed at Hart & Huntington Tattoo). Oh yeah, and did I tell you Playboy is at Palms? The world’s only Playboy Club is right here. Make sure and check out Moon and Ghost Bar – two bars with some of the most amazing views in Las Vegas.

Hard Rock
It makes sense for Hard Rock to be on this list, considering our rave reviews of Rehab and Body English. But the vibe inside the hotel certainly holds its own. “It’s like your local dive bar and your hip spot to be at the same time,” says Le. “People actually get to know you, theregulars.” Try to squeeze your way into Circle Bar next time you’rethere. If not, go play some blackjack. The dealers are gorgeous.
So there you have it – our suggestions for the must-see places if you’re making one of your first trips to Las Vegas. You can continue this discussion on The Hotel Guide’s Travel Talk forum on Facebook.
