Iconic San Antonio
Step back in time to the days of the Texas Revolution with an audio tour of the famed Alamo. Relive the pivotal battle where 189 defenders of Texas independence held the old mission for 13 days against 4,000 Mexican soldiers.
Known as the center of the city, prestigious Main Plaza recently unveiled a glimmering new facade with exquisite landscaping, stonework benches and interactive fountains. This summer, Main Plaza will be bustling with farmers’ markets from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Friday, a lunchtime music series from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and a children’s literacy series with kid-friendly entertainment like puppet shows.
Theme Park Thrills
The largest marine life park in the world, SeaWorld San Antonio, has a brand new water ride this season—Sidewinders, a multi-flume water slide that launches you into 90 degree turns of slippery fun! Just down the road, Six Flags Fiesta Texas has unleashed Goliath, a massive inverted roller coaster that soars 150 feet into the air.
If you dare seek more fun, head north for the all-new Dragon’s Revenge at Schlitterbahn, the world’s best water park according to the Travel Channel. The Dragon’s Revenge is a family ride with eight uphill blasts, six creepy caverns, a two-story free-fall and one angry dragon.
Looking for something a bit more unusual? The world’s largest Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Odditorium just opened in San Antonio’s historic Alamo Plaza, right across from the Alamo, next to the famed River Walk. Proving that truth can be stranger than fiction, Ripley’s is known for providing exhibits that showcase the ultimate in odd and bizarre like a two-trunked elephant, a 512-pound iron meteorite and locks of Marilyn Monroe’s hair, among other oddities.
