The Amarillo Museum of Art was renovated in 2004 and features a broad range of paintings, prints, photographs, sculptures and textiles from 20th-century artisans.
Out and About...
Most people have heard the saying, “on Route 66.” Well, in Amarillo, it is here. The city was the largest Texas city on Route 66! There are signs with the “Old Route 66” banner on them for easy locating and to experience that little piece of Americana. Here you will find a mile of antique and specialty shops, along with restaurants.
Want to escape the heat? The head to Splash Amarillo, which is the city’s very own 14-acre waterpark that offers visitors a wave pool, speed slides, flume slides, lazy river, arcade, kiddy area and delectable concessions.
The city is also home to one of Texas’ largest privately-owned amusement parks with more than 25 rides and 32 attractions.
